Project Manager

Job Description 

Manage Construction Inspection project for the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, VA and Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport, TN.

Job Details:

  • Set up the schedule of values
  • Own and manage all aspects of the projects and ensure projects come in on time and within budgets, while managing the schedule
  • Handle submittals and keeps submittal registries up to date
  • Develop and update project schedules, safety and quality control plans, environmental controls and documents
  • Develop proper RFI’s
  • Estimate for change orders
  • Write and manage change orders
  • Assist with scope reviews
  • Write and buyout contracts
  • Manage closeout documents
  • Build strong and long-lasting relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors and our superintendents/QC Managers/SSHO
  • Able to lead and manage weekly project update meetings with corporate and client key stakeholders
  • Ensure that safety and USACE regulations and building codes were considered and followed during the construction
  • Attend contractor’s project meetings

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 15 years’ construction experience with Commercial, Federal or Public projects
  • 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager for Commercial, Federal or Public projects between $5M and $50+M
  • 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager or Superintendent on Federal/Corps of Engineers (USACE) or NAVFAC/VA/Large Commercial or Public projects
  • Experience managing 3+ projects at the same time as a Project Manager
  • Excellent Computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, etc.)
  • Experience managing construction projects on industrial or manufacturing complexes
  • OSHA 30 certification current
  • USACE CQM current or able to get within 90 days of hire
  • Experience writing Quality Control and Safety plans, as well as Project Plans for proposals preferred
  • Scheduling experience
  • The Construction Project Manager will be required to have a valid driver’s license and to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Must have knowledge of building and construction crafts since detailed inspections must be made to ensure the required level of workmanship
  • Familiarity with specialized trades (MEP, structural, fire suppression, security systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Resident Management System (RMS), USACE Three Phase Inspection Process and USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM)
  • Due to the nature of the project US citizenship is required
  • Up to 50% of the time the position needs to move about indoor and outdoor construction site environments with uneven terrain, variable environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, noise, moisture, and dryness
  • The position requires wearing associated personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to gloves, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, hearing protection, and fall protection

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in field related to construction management (engineering, operations, CM, etc.)
  • 10+ years’ experience in Federal construction working under FARs, DFARs, and VAARs, preferred
  • Experience managing construction at Army Munitions Plant or other munitions plant projects
  • Primavera P6 and MS Project scheduling experience preferred
  • Field Experience preferred
  • Experience with wide range of trades including, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roofing, and general building construction
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Resident Management System (RMS), the USACE Three Phase Inspection Process and the USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM).
  • Knowledge of EM 385-1 Safety Requirements
  • CQM Certification
  • Interaction with clients and contractors requires candidate to have a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
